Reports to: Senior Director, Procure-to-Pay
Role Mandate
The Director, Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Finance is a key leadership role responsible for strengthening governance, controls, operational performance and transformation across the end-to-end P2P function.
This role provides leadership across P2P operations, cash management, third-party service delivery and financial governance, while driving process simplification, automation and continuous improvement. The Director will partner closely with Finance, Treasury, FP&A, Technology, Procurement, Sourcing and other business functions to improve supplier management, payment processes, cash visibility and overall financial outcomes.
Key Focus Areas: Costing, EDI, Accounts Payable, Post Audit, Vendor Income and Cash Management.
Key Accountabilities
Operations & Governance
- Provide leadership and oversight of P2P operations and third-party service providers, including SLAs, KPIs, controls, service standards and issue resolution.
- Govern payment operations across multiple payment methods, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and effective controls.
- Hold service providers accountable for performance, control execution, issue resolution and sustainable remediation of recurring service issues.
- Ensure P2P operations remain aligned with business priorities, financial controls and the broader transformation roadmap.
Risk, Controls & Financial Governance
- Maintain a strong risk, control and governance environment across P2P and Cash Management.
- Oversee the identification, escalation and remediation of financial, operational, compliance and supplier-related risks.
- Partner with Risk Advisory and 3rd party to strengthen audit practices, reconciliations, payment controls and financial governance.
- Provide oversight of key financial processes, including Vendor Income, Vendor Audit, period close, forecasting, budgeting and applicable regulatory requirements (Grocery Code of Conduct).
Transformation & Continuous Improvement
- Lead initiatives that advance a standardized, automated and scalable P2P operating model.
- Identify and deliver opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual activity and improve efficiency, controls and stakeholder experience through automation, analytics and emerging technology.
- Partner with Technology and Finance teams on SAP process improvements, system changes, data integrity and downstream business processes.
- Lead effective change and adoption across internal teams and service providers to ensure improvements are embedded and sustainable.
Cash Management & Financial Insight
- Provide leadership and governance over cash management, payment execution and related financial reporting.
- Partner with Treasury and FP&A to strengthen cash visibility, forecasting and reporting capabilities.
- Support the development of cash forecasting models and analytical insights using complex financial data.
- Assess financial and operational issues, evaluate business impact and provide clear recommendations to senior leadership.
Stakeholder Leadership
- Build strong relationships across Finance, Treasury, FP&A, Technology, Merchandising, Procurement, Sourcing, Supply Chain and Store Operations.
- Maintain an end-to-end understanding of business processes and system dependencies across the P2P lifecycle.
- Influence cross-functional decisions, align stakeholders around enterprise priorities and communicate complex issues clearly to senior leaders, partners and suppliers.
People Leadership
- Lead, coach and develop a geographically dispersed team, creating clear accountability and a strong sense of shared purpose.
- Foster a collaborative “one team” culture across functions, locations and service partners.
- Build leadership capability, succession and organizational capacity to support the evolving P2P operating model.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, strong financial acumen, curiosity, integrity and collaborative decision-making.
Role Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive experience in Finance, Accounting, Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Shared Services or a related discipline, including leadership of teams and complex financial operations.
- Strong end-to-end understanding of P2P, including service delivery, financial controls, risk management, performance management and key process dependencies.
- Demonstrated experience translating strategy into service priorities, operating plans and measurable performance outcomes.
- Proven experience leading operations across internal teams and third-party service providers, including SLAs, KPIs, controls, performance management, issue resolution and escalation.
- Demonstrated success leading complex transformation, process standardization and continuous improvement, leveraging automation, analytics, AI and technology to improve efficiency, controls and stakeholder experience.
- Strong enterprise mindset and stakeholder leadership, with the ability to influence senior leaders, navigate ambiguity, resolve complex cross-functional issues and drive decisions.
- Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline; professional designation or relevant advanced degree considered an asset.

- Some travel will be required for this role.
