Job Details:
As the Operations Supervisor, you will provide direct leadership and supervision to frontline cleaning teams across event preparation, live events, venue turnovers, and post-event recovery.
You will play a key role in ensuring cleaning services are delivered safely, efficiently, and consistently while maintaining high standards across guest-facing and operational areas. You will work closely with the Event Services Coordinator, Site Director, and venue operations teams to ensure the facility remains clean, safe, and event-ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise cleaning teams across assigned areas and facilities.
- Coordinate and direct staff activities throughout event preparation, live events, turnovers, and post-event recovery.
- Conduct shift start-up briefings, assign daily tasks, and complete end-of-shift handovers.
- Ensure daily, periodic, and event-specific cleaning assignments are completed on time and to established standards.
- Execute staffing deployment plans established by management and event coordination teams.
- Monitor high-traffic areas during live events, including washrooms, concourses, lobbies, entrances, seating areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Coordinate spill response, hazard mitigation, emergency cleaning activities, and service calls.
- Ensure washrooms, waste stations, public areas, and guest spaces remain clean and presentable throughout events.
- Support rapid event turnovers, venue conversions, floor resets, and post-event recovery.
- Train, coach, and mentor frontline employees and temporary event staff.
- Support onboarding and provide task-specific training to ensure employees understand cleaning and safety expectations.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, conduct, and completion of assigned work.
- Conduct routine inspections using established checklists and audit tools.
- Identify deficiencies, assign corrective actions, and verify completion.
- Ensure public, operational, and support areas meet required event-ready standards.
- Ensure the proper use, cleaning, storage, and care of equipment, carts, tools, and supplies.
- Monitor chemical and consumable inventory and coordinate replenishment as required.
- Ensure cleaning products are properly labelled, stored, and handled in accordance with WHMIS requirements.
- Oversee waste collection, sorting, recycling, composting, and waste handling procedures.
- Promote waste diversion and sustainable cleaning practices.
- Complete shift reports, inspections, attendance records, incident documentation, and operational reports.
- Participate in event briefings, operations meetings, and post-event debriefs.
- Assist with scheduling adjustments and real-time workforce redeployment.
- Enforce company, client, venue, and health and safety requirements.
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions and report incidents, hazards, and near misses.
- Support emergency response procedures and maintain safe working conditions during event transitions.
Qualifications
What You Bring
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education in Facilities Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field is an asset.
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience in facilities management, janitorial operations, commercial cleaning, hospitality, public assembly, or a related environment.
- Experience leading teams in fast-paced, high-volume, guest-facing environments.
- Knowledge of commercial cleaning practices, floor care, cleaning equipment, chemicals, waste management, and event support services.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills with the ability to motivate and coach a diverse workforce.
- Excellent communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
- Strong customer service mindset and attention to detail.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to changing priorities and operational issues.
- Working knowledge of WHMIS, workplace health and safety requirements, and safe work practices.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, overnight periods, holidays, and event-driven schedules.
