Machine Shop Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION
Custom Fabricators and Machinists Limited (CFM) seeks an experienced Supervisor for its Machine Shop. The supervisor will direct daily shop operations, manage projects, ensure quality and safety standards, provide technical guidance, and drive continuous improvement across a team of machinists and welders in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide leadership, direction, and support to the machine shop team, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate project schedules, resource allocation, and workflow to meet client deadlines and quality standards.
• Conduct inspections and audits to ensure compliance with machining specifications, standards, and procedures.
• Offer technical expertise, troubleshoot complex machining issues, and train staff on best practices and new technologies.
• Enforce safety protocols, lead safety meetings, and perform regular safety inspections.
• Perform performance evaluations, deliver feedback, and implement improvement plans for team members.
• Maintain accurate production records, reports, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and customers to resolve technical and delivery concerns.
• Monitor equipment maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
• Promote a clean, organized, and efficient shop floor environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Certification in machining or a related technical field (e.g., CNC certification).
• 4-6 years of experience in machine shop operations, including 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Strong technical knowledge of CNC and manual machining processes, equipment, and materials.
• Supervisor training or equivalent leadership development program preferred.
• Proven ability to manage projects, schedules, and resources effectively.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety compliance and quality assurance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for internal and external collaboration.
• Ability to lift and carry materials/equipment and stand or walk for extended periods.
• Experience conducting performance evaluations and coaching staff.
• Familiarity with manufacturing environment conditions (temperature variations, noise, fumes).

The salary range for this position is: $70,000 - $100,000
