JOB DESCRIPTION
Midland Transport is currently seeking an Intermediate Accountant in Dieppe, NB. The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for supporting and contributing to the creation and development of the financial statements in addition to ensuring the integrity of the company's financials.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Process journal entries and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions, including period-end close activities.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and maintain balance sheet accuracy, including lease, depreciation, and supporting schedules.
• Monitor and balance accounts receivable daily, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Prepare weekly preliminary reports and analyze monthly financial statements.
• Maintain fixed asset sub-ledger and ensure data accuracy across financial systems.
• Identify discrepancies and promptly resolve errors to ensure data integrity.
• Support audit preparation and coordinate required documentation and processes.
• Collaborate with departments to review expenses.
• Leverage data analytics tools (SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, Excel Power Query) to automate reporting and generate insights.
• Design and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency, strengthen controls, and reduce manual effort.
QUALIFICATIONS
• University Degree in related field.
• 3-5 years experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Data Analytics, automation and workflow optimization skills.
• Proactive mindset with a focus of efficiency and continuous improvement.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is an asset.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• CPA designation or progress toward achieving it would be an added advantage.
