JOB DESCRIPTION
We're seeking a detail-driven Production Engineering Technologist to join our Shipyard Production Engineering team. In this specialized role, you'll play a critical part in translating design intent into precise manufacturing data that powers automated steel cutting and welding systems, helping bring complex vessels to life safely, efficiently, and with exceptional quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop Numerical Control (NC) production data for structural and outfitting components, including nested parts, replacement parts, and temporary production aids (jigs, fixtures, templates)
  • Review and validate Numerical Control files from external design partners, resolve discrepancies, and implement updates within the ISI PLM system
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production and Planning teams to ensure high-quality, timely data delivery that supports efficient manufacturing
  • Engage with external Design Agents to improve production design and support manufacturability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve shop floor issues, working directly with Production Supervisors and machine operators
  • Test and commission automated equipment, developing and executing test plans for new designs, system updates, or process improvements
  • Support continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, data integrity, and production efficiency

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Engineering Technologist Diploma (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
  • 2-5 years of experience in shipbuilding, ship design, or heavy manufacturing
  • Technical Expertise
  • Strong understanding of Shipbuilding production processes and workflows, Material requirements, planning, and capacity considerations and Production drawings, 3D models, and NC data
  • Experience with steel structures and/or outfitting is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Pro
  • Additional Assets: Experience with NC-controlled cutting/welding equipment such as: Messer, HGG Profile Cutting Machines, MicroStep, SMWP

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
