JOB DESCRIPTION
Fleetway's Technical Publications team is helping shape the next generation of Royal Canadian Navy ships by developing high-quality, modern technical documentation that supports complex naval systems. We foster a collaborative environment that leverages advanced tools and technology to produce accurate, user-focused publications.
As a Technical Publications Specialist, you will play a key role in the development of S1000D-compliant technical manuals in Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) format. Working closely with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams, you will contribute to the creation of Canadian Forces Technical Orders (CFTOs) and other maintenance and support documentation. This includes reviewing Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals and technical specifications and translating complex information into clear, consistent, and usable content.
In this role, you will apply your knowledge of technical publication best practices, S1000D standards, and common source database (CSDB) environments to support the full publications lifecycle. You will help ensure data integrity across integrated systems, including the Integrated Data Environment (IDE) and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) databases, while adhering to established quality and compliance standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about producing high-quality technical content, with room to grow and contribute to a nationally significant program.
We're committed to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Fleetway is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals, including those from underrepresented groups, and we strive to create an environment where everyone feels respected, supported, and empowered to thrive.
We encourage applicants to self-identify if they belong to an underrepresented group, as part of our commitment to equitable hiring practices and fostering a truly inclusive workforce.
If you require accommodations during the recruitment process, please let us know-we're happy to help.

  • Support the development and ongoing maintenance of technical publications from multiple source materials, including OOEM manuals, Logistics Support Analysis Records (LSAR), and S1000D-based content
  • Review technical publications to ensure they are clearly structured, logically organized, and meet applicable standards, specifications, and customer requirements
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure publications reflect the latest approved system and equipment configurations
  • Contribute to the accuracy, consistency, and compliance of technical publications with Canadian defence standards, including Canadian Forces Technical Orders (CFTOs)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in a technical publications, documentation, or data-driven environment (experience with S1000D is considered a strong asset)
  • Familiarity with S1000D and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), or a demonstrated ability to learn and work within structured technical documentation standards
  • Experience working with structured data or markup languages such as XML, SGML, or HTML, or a willingness to develop these skills
  • Experience contributing to or maintaining structured technical documentation (e.g., S1000D data modules or similar formats) is preferred
  • Solid understanding of technical publications processes, tools, and workflows, or a strong interest in developing this expertise
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with complex technical information
  • Exposure to military or commercial technical publication standards, such as Canadian Forces Technical Orders (CFTOs), is an asset
