Forklift Operator (Yard)

JOB DESCRIPTION
The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and experience in commercial driving. You will thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment while optimizing production and shipping operations. This position requires a self-motivated and diligent worker who can operate both semi-independently and independently.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Unit Management: Pull units off the line according to time schedules or specific requests.
• Float Preparation: Bring floats to the offline area, align them with units, and set them up for extraction.
• Storage Coordination: Properly store units in the yard, ensuring all windows and exterior doors function correctly.
• Unit Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of units prior to shipping, ensuring all doors and windows are secure and all components are in place.
• Material Delivery: Transport materials needed for finalizing units for truckers.
• Documentation: Measure units (height, weight, and length) at offline and document the information for the Shipping Coordinator.
• Truck Management: Return trucks from units at offline back to online.
• Shunting: Move storage trailers from the upper yard to the dock using a shunt truck • Assistance: Support offline operations in securing units before removal.
• Fleet Management: For fleet units, pull the frame under the fleet at offline and secure it in place.
• Winter Tasks: Pick up stands after units are shipped and store them for future use; plow between units as needed.
• Safety Compliance: Perform all duties with a high degree of safety consciousness.
• Other Duties: Carry out additional tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience: 2-5 years' experience in a construction, manufacturing, or warehousing setting is an asset.
• Shunting Experience: Required.
• Physical Capability: Must be physically capable of performing all job-related tasks.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
• Flexibility: Willingness to perform repetitive tasks in a structured environment.
• Safety Awareness: Safety-conscious mindset.
• Driver's License: Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.
