JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Project Specialist you will support Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) operations and materials management initiatives. In this role, you will be a key contributor to ensuring material availability, inventory accuracy, and continuous improvement across assigned projects.
Working closely with production, engineering, planning, procurement, logistics, and external partners, you'll help align material management practices with production schedules and business priorities - directly supporting operational efficiency and program success.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Support & Issue Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for daily operational inquiries related to assigned projects
  • Support the implementation of new VMI locations, including part suitability, shelving/bin selection, and planogram development
  • Manage VMI part addition and removal requests

Inventory Management & Analysis

  • Monitor VMI inventory levels to minimize stock-outs and excess inventory
  • Perform regular analysis of stock levels and proactively address inventory risk
  • Forecast demand and recommend adjustments to min/max inventory levels
  • Act as an internal subject matter expert on the SecuraStock inventory portal

Reporting & Insights

  • Generate and analyze reports on inventory status, material usage, and forecasts
  • Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify trends and provide actionable insights to improve program performance

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and enhance operational efficiency
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support implementation of new workflows or systems
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of program documentation (SOPs, work instructions, process maps)

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure material availability aligns with production needs
  • Communicate risks, shortages, or delays clearly and effectively to stakeholders and leadership

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (e.g., Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering)
  • 3-5 years of experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain, or inventory management
  • Experience in complex industrial or manufacturing environments preferred
  • Defence industry experience considered an asset

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
