JOB DESCRIPTION
Fleetway Inc. is seeking a Docking Work Period Specialist to join our Marine Technical Services team! This role is responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams within the Department of National Defense (DND) and coordinating across internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical programs are executed with precision, innovation, and strategic alignment.
The ideal candidate brings a systems-thinking mindset, strong leadership capabilities, DND experience, and a commitment to continuous improvement. This position requires collaboration across the defense sector to deliver integrated solutions that meet operational and strategic objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead Docking Work Period Initiatives: Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure maintenance and sustainment programs are delivered efficiently and aligned with strategic objectives.
Analyze and Support Engineering Changes: Review technical modifications for impact on naval systems and documentation; provide guidance to ensure proper implementation.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline planning and execution of docking work periods, reducing timelines while maintaining operational readiness.
Facilitate Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a primary liaison with DND, shipyards, and industry partners to promote transparency and shared goals.
Ensure Accurate Documentation: Maintain technical publications, reports, and records to support compliance and informed decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

  • Engineering degree with completion of a Head of Department (HOD) tour in the Canadian Navy; or
  • QL6B equivalent (Senior NCM - Chief Petty Officer); or
  • Technical diploma in Marine Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Information Technology.

Experience:

  • 5-8+ years of Canadian Naval experience in naval systems engineering or technology.
  • Familiarity with multi-party enterprise-level solutions involving shipyards, government, and integrators.

Technical Competencies:

  • Proficient in naval maintenance procedures and documentation.
  • Strong technical writing skills and proficiency with MS Office tools.

Core Skills:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to meet project deadlines independently with minimal supervision.

Assets:

  • Experience in a shipyard environment or in a quality assurance role is considered an asset.

Due to the nature of our work, successful candidates must be eligible to obtain required government security clearances.
