RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advise Sales Team and S enior Leaders on the contract management process, terms and conditions to look for and best practices in the industry. Provide guidance to Sales and other stakeholders at all levels on contract terms and conditions, including the resolution of complex contractual and business matters. This support will reflect a strong adherence to the principles of the Canadian Grocery Code, while ensuring consistently high quality and accuracy of contract documentation
  • Review, assist in drafting, editing, and negotiating contractual terms and conditions, while addressing areas of legal risk in collaboration with Irving Counsel. Co-ordinate across Irving Divisions when needed. Lead, advocate and facilitate successful execution process of contracts
  • Execute and support all aspects of the contract life cycle management process for Sales from contract creation / drafting, negotiation, administration / record management, and compliance tracking / audit through contract renewal or termination. Utilize our CRM platform to ensure contract documentation and lead compliance monitoring
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the Canadian Grocery Code of Conduct, serving as the subject matter expert for the Sales Team, supporting Provision interpretation and identification of any breaches to the Code. Maintain a log of breaches and report breaches via the Grocery Code Portal as needed
  • Partner with Legal on contract reviews, approvals, and workload prioritization of contracts. Prioritize and finalize with accuracy and attention to detail all contract documentation. Work with Legal on the delivery of legal training and deployment of best practices, tools, and templates across the Sales organization

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in contract management, procurement, or purchasing
  • Post-secondary education in business, law, and/or paralegal studies preferred
  • Legal training would be an asset
  • A professional designation from the International Association of Contract and Commercial Managers ("IACCM") and / or willingness to pursue such a designation
  • Strong grasp of contract management administration and legal principles and language
  • Strong understanding of the individual businesses and their needs
  • Strong relationship building and collaboration skills
  • Experience using contract workflow and repository software (e.g. Jaggaer) preferred
  • Process improvement and reporting skills preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Self-starter, results oriented, acts with a high sense of urgency
  • Highly organized, responsive, attention to detail, and a proactive collaborator
  • Able to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, and achieve targets
