JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Corporate Vice President of Operational Excellence, the Director of Operational Management will lead the development, deployment and assessment of lean manufacturing and visual daily management programs across Moncton-based companies. The primary responsibility of this role is to deploy world-class operations management, strategy, and systems that empower the frontline workforce through tiered daily huddles to drive results, enable rapid problem solving, and ensure the business leaders deliver targeted savings, capacity creation, and capability development in focused long-term plans.
As a member of the Corporate Operational Excellence (OPEX) team, the director and respective team members facilitate the corporate OPEX strategy, goals, practices, and ensure the annual check and adjust for overall delivery of value creation initiatives across multiple industry sectors, including consumer products, food processing, transportation, and agriculture within the IGM group of companies. They will also work closely with operations leaders and GMs to develop and support continuous improvement programs and best practice deployment within the Irving Management System.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- In partnership with the other OpEx team directors, facilitate the corporate OpEx strategy, goals, and best practices across Moncton-based companies. This includes validation and adjustment of initiatives to ensure the delivery of value creation and targets.
- Collaborate with facility operations leaders, VPs of Operations, and business General Managers to develop and support continuous improvement programs for operations management. Build and deploy replicable standards of excellence for operations. Ensure the successful deployment of OpEx systems that align with long-term strategic plans, tracking a 3-year plan across all businesses. This includes being the champion of best practices and continuous improvement methodologies across all operational areas.
- This includes the establishment of assessment programs, Key Elements of Operations, within the Irving Management System. Provide visibility to the assessment gaps and support the closure to drive improvement.
- Collaborate with Corporate Strategic Management and Business General Manager teams to establish operational management and daily management continuous improvement programs to strengthen the workforce, empower the frontline, and enable rapid problem solving at each level of the organization.
- Ensure the successful deployment of OpEx systems that align with long-term strategic plans, tracking a 3-year plan across all businesses. This includes being the champion of best practices and continuous improvement methodologies across all operational areas.
- Champion the adoption of best practices and continuous improvement methodologies across all operational areas. This includes the coordination of ongoing education and internal/external benchmarking led through Operations Management Forums.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field is required.
- A master's degree is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in operations, manufacturing, or process improvement roles.
- 10 years in operation leadership roles, organizational design, or lean manufacturing is considered an asset.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt minimum with Master Black Belt preferred.
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities, with a track record of working effectively with senior leadership
