JOB DESCRIPTION
We have exciting opportunities for engineering co-op students in our state-of-the-art sawmills in southern, central, and northern NB and in Truro NS.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities may vary depending on site specific requirements. General responsibilities include:
- Coordinate projects by working alongside contractors and mill personnel to determine scope, planning, and execution of work packages for mill projects
- Lead specific projects with a team of sawmill staff and millwrights
- Work alongside senior management and site leaders to drive improvement throughout the site
- Champion safety, quality, and efficiency on the floor
- Learn the ins and outs of sawmill production and identify areas for improvement
QUALIFICATIONS
- Engineering student in good academic standing, returning to school
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High energy level with thorough attention to detail
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to improve operational processes
- Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities
- Enjoy working in a team-oriented environment with Mill Staff, Unionized Trades People, Operators, Contractors and Suppliers to ensure projects are completed in a cost effective, timely, and safe manner
- Strong administrative abilities and computer skills (Microsoft Office)
