JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Cost Accountant plays a key role in supporting operational efficiency and financial planning by analyzing production costs, preparing reports, and assisting in strategic decision-making. This role collaborates closely with plant operations, finance, procurement and supply chain to ensure accurate costing and inventory control.
Location: Wheatley Ontario
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze and monitor manufacturing costs and variances.
- Prepare cost reports and financial statements to provide insights for management decision making
- Prepare, analyze and present budgets and forecasts
- Develop standard costing
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes related to cost accounting
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements
- Drive continuous improvement in cost tracking and reporting systems
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post secondary education in accounting, finance or similar field of study
- 3 years' of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
- A professional accounting designation
- Proficient with ERP systems (JD Edwards/Oracle a plus)
- Advanced in Excel with the ability to develop reports and analyze data to provide strong recommendations to senior leadership.
- Supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to lead, coach and mentor
- Proven ability to work cross functionally
