JOB DESCRIPTION
The NDE Inspector is responsible for coordination and application of NDE. They will work with classification society surveyors, QC and production to ensure that examinations are completed to meet the class requirements while limiting the impact to cost and schedule. This is achieved by ensuring that the requirement is correctly defined, requests are technically correct and that the examiners have suitable access to the product under examination.
NDE Inspector works closely with both Class (Lloyd's Register) and the NDE sub-contractor to confirm adherence to rules and requirements. The NDE inspector will be expected to gain NDE qualifications and augment the NDE sub-contractors by completing examinations as necessary. Accountable for deliverables in the 3-6-month time frame.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administration of the NDE requests and onsite management of NDE subcontractors and ensuring class review.
  • Completing NDE inspections.
  • Provision of feedback to production on NDE outcomes and next steps.
  • Provision of SME on NDE.
  • In production QC support.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Red Seal in Welding or Technical Diploma in relevant subject or similar considered an asset.
  • 5+ of NDE or Shipbuilding experience considered an asset.
  • NDE qualifications in VT, MPI, LPI or UT are desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite and SharePoint.
  • Ability to independently learn to operate new technical software packages.
  • ASNT Level II in Visual Inspection or similar desirable (CWB L2 or ISO 9712 equivalent).
  • Shipbuilding and/or manufacturing knowledge related to welding.
  • Demonstrate knowledge relating practical aspects of welding and inspection.
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and structural and outfit drawings.
  • Technical communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information in accessible format.
  • Organizational skills.
