JOB DESCRIPTION
We're currently seeking for a skilled and safety-conscious Boiler Operator to join our team at our Kedgwick Sawmill. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the site's boiler systems and related equipment to ensure uninterrupted production and compliance with regulatory standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Boiler Operator at the Kedgwick Sawmill, you'll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our temperature steam systems, ensuring that all boiler and auxiliary equipment functions reliably to support sawmill production. Your day-to-day duties will include the below:

  • Manage the drying schedule for the four high-temperature dryers
  • Perform chemical tests on the water in the four high-temperature kettles
  • Mix products and treat water for the steam
  • Perform lockout and confined space to work in the kettles and dryers
  • Perform regular ash cleaning with the assistance of the Chief operator
  • Regularly complete the logbook in accordance with Provincial Regulations
  • Print and submit drying reports
  • Perform an inventory of dried products

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required education:
    • Diploma in Power Engineering, 4 th Class minimum
  • Required years of experience:
    • 2 to 5 years
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and operating procedures
  • Comfortable in working independently and making sound decisions under pressure
  • Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on tasks in a sawmill environment
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic computer skills for logging, monitoring systems, and reporting
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or on-call as required by drying operation
  • Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement
