As a Sales Application Engineer, you will transform the needs of industrial customers into customized technical solutions by combining excellence and efficiency in mechanical engineering with a deep understanding of customer processes. You will be responsible for defining and evaluating the costs associated with the design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning of industrial equipment and systems. You will work closely with the engineering, production, procurement, and project management teams to provide accurate and competitive technical and commercial proposals, while meeting customer requirements and the company's profitability goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the client's processes and needs by reviewing and interpreting requests for quotation (RFQs), Piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and contractual documents;
  • Assess the scope of work, risks, technical specifications, and contractual obligations;
  • Define the preliminary system configuration;
  • Select and size the main equipment;
  • Prepare detailed estimates of all costs from detailed engineering through delivery;
  • Collaborate with suppliers to obtain competitive and up-to-date quotes for materials and components;
  • Develop technical and commercial proposals by providing accurate estimates and recommendations to optimize profitability;
  • Participate in discussions with the client to clarify details;
  • Hand over the project to the project manager after the order is placed;
  • Communicate effectively with team members to clarify requirements and resolve any issues that may arise.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in application engineering, project engineering, technical estimating, mechanical design, industrial equipment selection, or technical sales.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present technical and business information clearly, accurately, and in a structured manner.
  • Strong ability to analyze customer needs, identify technical and commercial challenges, and assess project-related risks.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and priority-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • High attention to detail, thoroughness, and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently while fostering collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Bilingualism (French and English), both spoken and written.
