The Waseskun Healing Community, established in 1988, is a dynamic organization committed to providing a supportive healing environment for the men in our care. As one of six (6) Indigenous healing lodges-and the only one located east of Manitoba-we offer a unique approach to addressing past traumatic life experiences, including those associated with residential schools.

Our multidisciplinary team includes spiritual Elders and helpers, program staff, and administrative personnel. We work in partnership with the Correctional Service of Canada and Quebec Correctional Services.

Under the supervision of the Director and/or Deputy Director, the Case Manager's responsibilities include:

  • Developing individualized healing plans based on each resident's life story and experiences;

  • Incorporating the objectives of each healing plan into a framework for monitoring and documenting residents' progress;

  • Ensuring that our partners are informed of each resident's progress or lack thereof;

  • Preparing reports, as required, for escorted outings and other purposes;

  • Collaborating with the Waseskun team and community partners to support residents' successful and positive reintegration into their families and communities;

  • Working with the team to develop family therapy sessions; and

  • Performing all other related duties.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Ability to work collaboratively as an active member of a multidisciplinary team;

  • Strong analytical and information-synthesis skills;

  • Sound judgment and the ability to recommend appropriate courses of action;

  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills;

  • Effective oral and written communication skills;

  • Ability to work in an environment that balances traditional healing practices with assessment and risk-management requirements; and

  • Ability to successfully obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
