GFL Environmental is looking for a Class 3 Residential Driver to join our Residential Collection team in Calgary, AB!

This is a fast paced collection role, requiring significant coordination and attention to detail. As a Residential Driver, you will be servicing over 1,000 residential homes per day, lifting and loading waste carts, using an automated loading arm, into the collection truck. The ideal candidate must be prepared for a highly demanding work environment that requires repetitive tasks, route planning, and a safety first mindset in all weather conditions.

Requirements:

  • Valid Class 3Q (airbrake) or higher operator's license, with a clean 5-year commercial driver's abstract

  • Exceptional physical stamina and a can do mentality

  • Comfortable with early morning starts and long workdays

  • Must be able to safely drive the truck and operate automatic side load equipment

  • Must meet the safety-sensitive function criteria as established by company standards

Responsibilities:

  • Load solid waste carts safely into the truck hopper all day

  • Operate a automatic side-load residential waste truck, including hydraulic hopper compaction controls

  • Assess hazards and changing conditions continuously throughout the shift, servicing over 1,000 homes daily

  • Tag prohibited wastes items, and report infraction to supervisor.

  • Ensure all required personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times

  • Perform comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete daily documentation

  • Communicate any mechanical issues to maintenance personnel

  • Follow all safety standards and regulations

  • Assist with overflow routes, shop and yard tasks, and additional duties as assigned
