Certified Dental Assistant

Job Summary
Hazeldean Family Dental Centre is seeking a reliable, organized, and patient-focused Dental Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the dentist during clinical procedures, help deliver excellent patient care, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice. Responsibilities

Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, surgical, orthodontic, and pediatric treatments as needed
Prepare and disinfect treatment rooms before and after patient appointments
Set up instruments, materials, and equipment required for procedures
Take dental radiographs and other diagnostic records as permitted and required
Provide patients with pre-treatment and post-treatment instructions
Sterilize and maintain instruments in accordance with infection prevention and control protocols
Ensure operatories and clinical areas remain clean, organized, and fully stocked
Accurately chart treatment and update patient records when required
Support the front desk team when needed, including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, confirming bookings, and responding to patient inquiries
Maintain compliance with all practice policies, health and safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Assist with inventory monitoring and restocking of dental supplies

Required Qualifications / Experience

Dental Assisting certification (level 2 or (level 1 + HARP or equivalent training/experience suitable for the role
Strong understanding of dental procedures, instruments, and terminology
Knowledge of infection control and sterilization standards
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work efficiently in a team environment
Professional, compassionate, and patient-centered attitude
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant in a dental practice
Familiarity with Dentrix or similar dental practice management software
Experience assisting with oral surgery, gum grafting, implants, extractions, or other surgical procedures
Experience working in a busy family dental office
Experience with pediatric patients is an asset

Monday: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Tuesday: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
Wednesday: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Thursday: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
Friday: 8:30 am - 3:00 pm
Saturday: Closed
Sunday: Closed
