POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Facilities Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation, maintenance, and development of the Prollenium's facilities including offices, warehousing, and manufacturing production spaces. This individual will play a key role in maintaining existing infrastructure, supporting new facility acquisitions and buildouts, and ensuring all spaces operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and company standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the maintenance and smooth operation of all company facilities, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building envelope systems (roof, structure, foundation, etc.).
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise preventive maintenance using a CMMS system (e.g., MaintainX or similar).
  • Perform or coordinate general facility repairs and upkeep including minor electrical, mechanical, and carpentry work, while ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Manage and supervise external service vendors and contractors, ensuring timely completion, quality workmanship, and cost-effective delivery of services.
  • Respond to after-hours facility emergencies to ensure continuity of operations and safety.
  • Assist the Head of Facilities in identifying, assessing, and acquiring new properties; participate in planning, design, construction, and commissioning of new or renovated spaces. Develop project cost estimates, budgets, and schedules.
  • Lead building safety and compliance programs, including fire systems, access control, and surveillance; ensure adherence to OSHA, WHMIS, and JHSC requirements, as well as GMP standards.
  • Procure and maintain safety equipment and ensure staff training for key operational requirements (e.g., working from heights, lift operation, confined space).
  • Manage facility systems and documentation, including CMMS data, layout plans, and project records. Support building automation systems to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Perform or coordinate general facility repairs and upkeep, including minor electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry work.
  • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets; oversee vendor relationships, service contracts, and procurement of materials and supplies to ensure fiscal responsibility and operational reliability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in facilities engineering, maintenance, or project management, ideally in a manufacturing or regulated (GMP) environment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and building envelope systems.
  • Certifications such as WHMIS, OSHA, JHSC, or equivalent required.
  • Facilities Management certification (e.g., IFMA CFM/FMP, BOMA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • GMP environment experience strongly preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of basic tools and ability to carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Experience with CMMS software (MaintainX or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD (or similar), and Visio.
  • Strong budgeting, estimating, and vendor management skills.
