About the Project
Pape Tunnel Underground Stations (PTUS), a vital segment of the Ontario Line, enhances connectivity, reduces congestion, and supports sustainable growth in Toronto. Webuild, in joint venture, leads this project-constructing 3.2 km of tunnel using advanced technology and two underground stations designed for future capacity, safety, accessibility, and seamless integration with Toronto's transit network. About the Job
We are hiring a Paralegal who will be reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel. As a Paralegal , you will support Senior Legal Counsel as well as project and commercial teams in the execution, administration, and closeout of subcontract and vendor agreements. The role places a strong emphasis on change management, contractual correspondence, and contractual negotiations. You will collaborate closely with Senior Legal Counsel and cross-functional teams-including procurement, engineering, and project management-to assist in the assessment of subcontractor performance, implement robust recordkeeping and claims-tracking systems.
You will report directly to the General Counsel.
What You Will Be Doing?
- Provide support on claims, including investigation, analysis, management, negotiation, and resolution.
- Support the drafting, reviewing, and negotiation of key subcontract, supply, and vendor agreements.
- Assist Senior Legal Counsel in preparing and defending negotiation positions.
- Support the project team, particularly the subcontract administration and commercial teams.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with PNC policies and procedures relating to subcontracting and procurement.
- Collaborate closely with Senior Legal Counsel and other stakeholders to advance project interests.
- Promote a positive work environment that values collaboration, professionalism, diversity, and integrity.
What We Are Looking For?
- Completed a recognized postsecondary diploma or degree program in legal or paralegal studies.
- 5+ years of experience either in private practice or working with a large organization, preferably in contractual claims, contract drafting and negotiation, and dispute resolution.
- Active member in good standing of a Law Society in Canada (P1).
- Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of commercial contract law, including claims, contract drafting, contract negotiation and dispute resolution.
- Familiarity with the Construction Act (Ontario).
- Strong verbal reasoning and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret contracts, legislation, and case law with precision.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and consensus-building skills, with the ability to influence without formal authority.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and manage divergent stakeholder perspectives.
