The State Group is seeking a Mechanical Estimator in Mississauga, Ontario. The Mechanical Estimator supports the estimating team by preparing cost estimates for mechanical systems involved in construction or manufacturing projects. These systems can include HVAC, plumbing, piping, or fire protection. The position requires working closely with project drawings, specifications, and supplier quotations to develop accurate bids and budgets that align with project requirements.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Comply with safety requirements and actively promote a positive safety culture.
- Review various streams of information, including (but not limited to) previous customer projects, similar projects from other customers in the market, labor costs, and other project-specific costs.
- Request clarification on the tender when necessary.
- Update costs as needed based on new information and changes in project scope.
- Collect and analyze all project costs-such as raw materials, labor, equipment, and tooling-to ensure estimates are accurate.
- Estimate costs for engineering projects based on an analysis of technical requirements.
- Identify and quantify potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of possible expenses.
- Collaborate with the project team throughout the project to estimate change orders and revisions, and to apply lessons learned to future projects.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM
- 3 + years of mechanical estimating experience
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (including Excel), and Accubid.
- A college diploma, bachelor's degree, tradecraft certification, or equivalent experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
