About the Role
Our client, a leading aerospace manufacturer in Mississauga, is seeking a Senior Structural or Mechanical Assembler to join their high-performing team. This is a permanent, direct-hire opportunity for an experienced professional with deep technical expertise and a strong commitment to quality in aerospace assembly.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex structural and mechanical assembly of aircraft components, subassemblies, and major structures in accordance with engineering drawings, process specifications, and quality standards.
- Lead and mentor junior assemblers, providing technical guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient, high-quality production.
- Execute precision fitting, drilling, reaming, riveting, torquing, and installation of fasteners, bushings, and mechanical components.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot assembly issues and propose process improvements.
- Ensure all work meets AS9100 and aerospace customer standards, maintaining full traceability and documentation accuracy.
- Interpret and validate complex blueprints, work instructions, and technical data.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to safety, quality, and productivity goals.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area in compliance with 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
Qualifications
- 20+ years of experience in aerospace structural or mechanical assembly, ideally in aircraft manufacturing or major structural programs.
- Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting aerospace engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Strong hands-on experience with a wide range of tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, pneumatic tools, and precision measuring equipment.
- Proven ability to perform complex assemblies and alignments with minimal supervision.
- Strong understanding of aerospace materials (aluminum, titanium, composites) and bonding or sealing techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience within a production environment.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred
- Previous experience in major structural assembly, airframe integration, or systems installation.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement programs.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as AS9100 and NADCAP.
