Compensation Package: $77,000 - $90,000 a year, eligible for additional bonus
Compensation subject to annual review and increase based on inflation, cost of living, merit and performance. Compensation offered may vary depending on the applicants level of experience, qualifications and other factors.

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for planning, implementing, overseeing and administering networks, server environments, personal computers, telephony and projects as assigned. This role provides remote and deskside network hardware and software support for end users. They respond to queries and resolve issues, including incidents, service requests and change orders. They perform administration and maintenance tasks on various IT systems.
As the Senior Systems Administrator, you will
- Administer various IT systems including Azure services, Windows Server, Exchange, Active Directory, Remote Desktop, SharePoint, Network Printer, MDM, O365, and network devices
- Design, deploy, manage and maintain security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus and intrusion detection systems
- Manage all network hardware and equipment, including switches, firewall, VPN, and patch panels
- Provide application support, as required:
- Microsoft Office and common software applications
- ERP, DocRecord, and line-of-business apps
- Trail custom applications
- Perform installations and modifications to laptops, desktops, printers and monitors
- Monitor and review Helpdesk tickets and provide support to end users. Assign and escalate tickets where applicable
- Support mobile devices (iOS and Android)
- Provide user training on system usage and applications as required
- Work with the IT Team to implement complex systems projects
- Maintain current knowledge of products offered, application functionality and the high-level architecture of Trail IT Systems
- Perform other duties as required to deliver exceptional service and to support Trails business goals
To be successful in this role, you need:
- Education: Degree or Diploma in computer science or technology related discipline with a relevant IT focus (or equivalent)
Work Experience / Qualifications
- 5+ years experience with implementing and configuring Windows Servers and services (AD, RDS, DNS, GPO, Exchange, etc.)
- 5+ years experience with implementing and configuring VMware ESXi, vSphere and vCenter
- 5+ years IT end-user support experience with at least 6 years as Tier-3 escalation support
- 5+ years experience with Azure resources (Office 365, AAD, Entra, Conditional Access, Intune, etc.)
- 5+ years experience of PowerShell scripting
- Extensive experience supporting and managing HP server hardware and dHCI integration
- Extensive experience in Palo Alto firewalls and HPE/Aruba switches configuration and troubleshooting
- Hands-on IT administration experience in mid to large-sized infrastructure
- Ability to design & implement POC environments from end to end and be able to provide summary reports regarding a path forward to optimize operational capabilities and streamline business processes where applicable
- Extensive experience with SCCM
- Experience dealing with and overcoming cyber incidents
- Extensive experience planning and execution of upgrades, new implementations and maintenance of network systems and infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with asset management
Working knowledge of implementing next-generation firewalls & anti-virus solutions
- Experience working with cyber-security vendors/partners to implement managed services
- Demonstratable experience with conducting cyber-security audits and PEN tests
- Knowledge with backup technologies and DR planning
- Knowledge and hands-on experience of LAN and WAN technologies, VPN technology (GRE,IPSec/SSL VPNs), routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), network security (NAT,RADIUS, ACLs), and wireless (802.11a/b/g/n/ac, WPA, WEP, 802.1x)
- Knowledge and application of ITIL best practices

- Experience with infrastructure upgrade and migration
- Knowledge of Microsoft MCSA 2008 or higher is an asset
- Experience administering Office 365 and Azure services
