Job Description:
ABC Supply, North America's largest distributor of exterior and interior building products, is seeking a motivated Delivery Material Handler / Roof Loader to join our team.
The Delivery Material Handler works closely with the Delivery Service Manager and delivery team to ensure safe and timely delivery of roofing materials to customers and job sites. The role involves both roof and ground-level deliveries, unloading materials from delivery trucks, and assisting with warehouse operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team. This position will be working on the truck deck to start and then be trained on handling materials for rooftop deliveries.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely unload building products, including shingles and multiple bundles, from conveyor booms on first or second-story rooftops.
- In situations where rooftop delivery is not feasible, assist the driver with ground drop operations at the job site.
- Verify order contents before loading them onto the delivery truck to ensure accuracy.
- Assist in staging and unloading materials at customer job sites, following safety guidelines for handling products.
- Demonstrate daily commitment to safety by adhering to all safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Ensure that the work zone is secure and safe during each delivery at job sites.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and responsibly.
- Interact with customers in a friendly, professional, and respectful manner, addressing any questions or concerns.
- Provide excellent customer service and ensure materials are delivered and staged according to customer needs.
- Assist customers and coworkers with any additional requests or adjustments during the delivery process.
- Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the delivery vehicle in collaboration with the driver.
- Ensure all materials are securely loaded and comply with local, provincial, and government regulations for safety and transportation.
- Assist with warehouse operations, including loading and unloading materials onto or off trucks or placing materials in the warehouse as required.
- Ensure materials are properly organized and stored to avoid damage and ensure ease of access for future orders.
- Adhere to the assigned delivery schedule and follow job directives precisely, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to customers.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure all deliveries are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Keep track of delivery materials and ensure nothing is missed during the loading and unloading process.
- Additional duties as assigned; job duties and responsibilities may vary from location to location.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 75-100 pounds) and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
- Basic computer skills
- Commitment to safety and adherence to regulations
- Previous experience in delivery driving, material handling, or roofing supply is preferred
