Job Title: Mechanical Designer (EIT)

Position Overview: We are seeking a Mechanical Designer (EIT) to assist with the design and development of sanitary stainless steel pressure vessels, process equipment, and fabrication projects. The successful candidate will possess knowledge and experience in working with relevant codes, regulations, and manufacturing processes. This role requires strong project management and mechanical design skills, as well as expertise in pressure vessel and equipment design. A commitment to quality and customer satisfaction is essential.
Responsibilities:
Involved in the detailed development, design, and drafting of sanitary stainless steel pressure vessels, process equipment, and miscellaneous fabrication projects, with support from a senior mechanical engineer.
Perform design calculations and create shop drawings, ensuring adherence to ASME Section VIII Division 1 standards.
Bring forward alternate approaches and solutions during the design stage to improve quality and productivity in manufacturing and purchasing functions.
Participate in engineering design and development for existing and new product development initiatives.
Interpret and implement ASME Section VIII Division 1 and 2, CSA B51, B31-1, B31-3 codes, and other relevant regulations governing the fabrication of pressure vessels, process piping, and miscellaneous fabrication.
Involved in quality control and compliance practices to meet regulatory and customer requirements for vessels, fabrication, and process piping.
Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and inspection agencies, to coordinate code compliance and implement value-added propositions.
Manage all aspects of project documentation to meet regulatory and customer requirements, including preparing technical documentation and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Participate in developing project updates, bid package estimates, and closing bids.
Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution.
Manage project tasks, including job costing, change orders, and coordination with the manufacturing department.
Coordinate shipment and installation of equipment, ensuring timely and accurate delivery and setup.
Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance project outcomes.
Assist in material receiving for registered jobs, ensuring all materials meet required specifications and are available for timely project execution.
Provide technical support during the fabrication and installation phases, ensuring designs are accurately translated into final products.
Qualifications and Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3+ years of design and development engineering and project management experience. Sanitary Stainless Steel pressure vessels, process equipment and fabrication experience preferred.
Mechanical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation.
Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer, particularly in the design of process equipment.
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, fabrication processes, and industry standards.
Experience in the design of pressure vessels and familiarity with relevant codes and standards.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in design work.
Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Open-mindedness and receptiveness to constructive criticism, with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
Interest in pursuing training in pressure vessel design in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Division 1 and 2.
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
Experience creating drawings for a fabrication shop environment.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
