Matcon Underground Utilities Ltd. is one of the Lower Mainland's premier and highly regarded construction companies, specializing in civil infrastructure projects. We are currently seeking highly experienced and motivated Heavy Equipment Operators with 5-10 years of expertise to join our dynamic team.

Position Overview:
As a Heavy Equipment Operator with Matcon, you will be responsible for operating a range of equipment, including Excavators and Backhoes, for trench excavation work across various sites in the Lower Mainland. You will be working within a professional and collaborative construction crew, ensuring precision and safety throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to all industry safety standards.
Accurately cut lines and grades for the installation of sewer, water, and conduit mainlines and services.
Lift and set pipe and precast concrete as required.
Perform backfilling, hoe packing, and curb & sidewalk preparation.
Complete bulk excavation and truck loading tasks.
Coordinate effectively with the Foreman, Grademan, and Pipelayer to ensure smooth operations.
Perform track shoveling and maintenance when necessary.

Candidate Requirements:
A comprehensive understanding of industry-standard safety protocols, particularly related to trenching and heavy equipment operations.
Proven track record in a production-driven environment, with the ability to maintain professionalism, clear communication, and teamwork.
Exceptional efficiency, precision, and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality work the first time.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative and continue tasks without direct supervision.
A minimum of 5 years of experience operating sewer/water excavators or backhoes (mandatory).
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment.

Pay: $31.24-$44.16 per hour
