Key Job Duties:
Support site supervision with implementation and management of the SRM Safety Program.
Maintain statistics and records and monitor incident frequencies and safety violations, assist in investigations and complete related documentation.
Assist in the planning and start-up of new projects with respect to site-specific safe work practices and procedures.
Complete inventory safety related training of workers.
Facilitate new worker safety orientations.
Regularly monitor safety compliance of workers and subcontractors; conduct site inspections and institute remedial action if required.
Ensure completion of regular site inspection reports from field management; note resolution to any deficiencies or actions taken on the report.
Conduct field level safety meetings, toolbox talks, and health and safety informational awareness.
Assist in the administration, documentation, and management of the Company's COR program.
Keep management current on the status of any issue(s) that may impact on the work being performed.
Perform other duties as required.
Reporting to SRM Safety Lead.
Qualifications and Experience:
5+ years of field safety experience, preferably in a construction environment
Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation is an asset
High Voltage electrical experience / Power distribution an asset
Tickets: CSTS 2020, WHMIS 2015, TDG, Bear Awareness
Previous experience in forestry an asset
Previous experience in civil construction and roadworks an asset
Full, current Class 5 driver's license with a clean drivers abstract
Position is field based with an 80% travel requirement (most work is within 4 hours of home)
Previous experience working with First Nations an asset.
Skills and Knowledge:
Possess the demonstrated ability to motivate self and others and an ability to work in a team environment with minimum supervision.
Have good working knowledge of local government Health & Safety Acts, Policies, Regulations, and Industry Standards as they apply to the construction industry.
Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously; meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment.
Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with client, contractors, and crews.
Strong written and oral communication skills
