What Will You Do at TPH?

The Fabrication Shop Director is responsible for planning, controlling, organizing and coordinating all fabrication shop operations.
Make safe work practice the first consideration from conception to completion within the shop; ensure proper OHS practices and protocols are followed
Manage fabrication shop workers in safe work practices and job productivity with coaching/mentoring
Collaborate with members of the construction/project team (president, estimators, detailers, project managers, site supervisors, etc.) during pre-construction, planning, and construction phases
Ensure quality of all prefab products built, assembled, and constructed within the pre-fabrication shop for effective and successful installation of our projects
Follow, study, and implement latest industry innovations in pre-fabrication as needed
Train and develop new staff
Promote an environment of continuous improvement through proactive process improvement
Lead, manage, supervise, and cross train shop talent, preparing each for future roles in the company
Work with estimating in preparation of shop budget and meet or beat man-hour budget
Communicate regularly/openly and meet weekly with project and senior manager team
Manage and prioritize daily production orders by keeping and maintaining records and lists of operations and order inventory when required
Stay on top of shop/site schedule and plan materials and resources as required
Manage all aspects of the fabrication shop
Operate processing equipment (overhead crane, plasma pipe cutter, welding equipment, etc.)
Coordinate Shipping and Receiving
Manage production schedule and inventory
Oversee cleaning and completion of the daily equipment check-list
Conduct preventative maintenance inspections on shop equipment and tools
Coordinate all site deliveries with in-house driver
Communicate regularly and openly with project and senior manager team,
Other directives as requested by management

What You'll Bring:
Minimum 5+ years of experience in a similar role
Welding, plumbing, and pipefitting background
Must be able to read and interpret blue-print drawings
Must be able to work on weekdays from 7:00am to 4:00pm
Forklift and overhead crane certification
Effective communication skills
Strong leadership skills
Detailed, accurate, organized, and disciplined in your approach and delivery; mechanically inclined
Basic computer and MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
AutoCAD knowledge
Willingness to make quick and thoughtful decisions on behalf of TPH
Strong customer service skills
Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset
