We are looking for an individual with at least 4 years of experience in decking and fencing. Someone who has a comprehensive understanding of all the necessary tasks involved.

The ideal candidate will have a combination of education and experience and possess a passion for this career path. This is a year round position with winter work available.

The ideal candidate will also be eligible for our SUB program to assist with income in the winter months which pays 80% of the regular salary from the summer season in the winter season.

The candidate must be able to provide a good reference from former employers.

The candidate must be able to relocate to Saskatoon, Sk.

Required Experience

Minimum 4 years in Deck & fence building. Showing increasing competency and responsibility. Must be able to prove competency in carpentry, framing, decking and fencing , construction methods, and execution. Must have experience combined with a desire to continually improve your decking and fencing skills and ability to execute complete jobs.
Proven track record of leading a crew.
Competent in constructing decks and fences from ground up.
Class 5 license. Ability to tow trailers.
This is a 100% on-the-tools working foreman position.
Criminal Record check required.

Preferred

Journeyman Carpenter, or equivalent. Other journeyman certificates considered. Not required but would be an asset.

Power mobile equipment operator certificate for man lift and zoom boom or able to obtain.

The ideal candidate possesses the following skills :

-Strong understanding and proof of competence with various deck & fence installation practices. Your main skillset is carpentry, deck framing, decking, railing and fence installations

-Strong knowledge and understanding of residential framing and construction.

- Installing vinyl decking, deck construction, railing installations and fence construction.

-Ability to work Unsupervised and ensure that others are also working.

-Able to interpret and create plans, explain and give directions to others.

-Able to communicate effectively and positively with clients.

-Able to organize production and communicate details to project manager.

-Safe and efficient operation of hand tools, fall protection and specialty tools.

-Ability to participate in company meetings, including job tracking, safety and production meeting

What you will be doing while working with us:

-Installing maintenance free decking, fencing and railings.

-Laying out piles.

-Reading and interpreting construction plans and hand off documents.

-Communicating the plans with the rest of the crew.

-Leading a crew of 2-4 people.

-Effectively communicating with all stakeholders including clients, owner, other supervisors, suppliers.

-operating power equipment.

-maintaining a safe, clean and organized workspace.

- Job tracking and time management.

-Lead and hit production targets.

-Installing railing systems.

-Training on new products and installation techniques.

-Job organization and communicating up and down the chain of command .

-Take offs

-Training on leadership and other soft skills

-Installing low voltage lighting systems.

-Christmas lighting installation and other construction work in the winter months.

Hours of work:

Monday to Friday for a minimum of 8-10 hrs per day.

Very minimal weekend work in the summertime. Only when rainy conditions persist and weekends are the only option to catch up.

We generally perform our full time construction operations from March 1st to Jan 1st.

Jan & Feb are typically slower but this is where we get prepped for next season while on SUB program
