Sterling Law is a progressive, collegial, dynamic family law firm seeking a talented senior law clerk to join our team. She or he is highly skilled at drafting court documents, and has extensive knowledge and experience in family law procedures. A successful candidate will be reliable, organized, and detail oriented, with the ability to problem solve, prioritize, and work independently. They will also possess strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

_ Job Overview: _

We are seeking a detail-oriented Law Clerk to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will assist lawyers in various legal tasks and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced law office environment.

_ Responsibilities include: _

- Meeting with clients;

- Developing and maintaining a positive relationship with clients and other professionals;

- Assisting with client intakes, organizing calendar entries; arranging client meetings, verifications and court dates;

- Manage and organize client and administrative e-files

- Drafting the range of Family Court Documents in Ontario and Superior Court of Justice

- Prepare or arrange litigation material, assembling into pleadings and/ or briefs, edit and finalization;

- Proficiency with filing via the JSO portal and uploading and navigating Case Centre

- Coordinating in person filings with process server;

- Coordinating work-flow with clerks and lawyers;

- Scheduling meetings and court attendances, Conferences and Motions;

- Manage calls and emails; route and/or respond to inquiries as appropriate;

- Liaise with lawyers and clerks to prepare and forward client invoices;

- Assist with reminders and collection on overdue accounts;

- Request cheques, bank transfers and paying in funds received in person and electronically;

- Perform administrative duties, such as purchasing and/or updating lawyers' memberships;

_ Qualifications: _

- Law clerk diploma

- Minimum 5 + years experience

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Cosmolex, and Divorcemate

- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines efficiently

- Self-disciplined

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
