Position: Mainline Excavator Operator

Location: Sites located in and around Edmonton, reporting into our Acheson office

About Us:

Kichton Contracting is seeking a motivated and adaptable individual to join our team. Kichton Contracting Ltd (KCL) has been in business since 1963 and is based out of Acheson, Alberta, Canada. KCL is classified as a medium-sized Underground infrastructure contractor. Our work ranges from residential utilities, commercial site development, to industrial projects, as well as neighborhood rehab projects. Our services include Water, Sewer and Drainage for all types of new commercial and industrial sites, along with retrofitting existing sites to accommodate new site development.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Comfortably cut and grade trenches with 1:1 slopes or for shoring boxes for water and sewer installations

Operating in close proximity to utilities and working with pipelayer to expose utilities for crossings and tie ins

Ensure all excavations are safe for pipe crew to enter

Ensure rigging is up to standard and safe for lifting, if not communicate with riggers

Lifting and placing large diameter manholes and catch basins

Reading and understanding first call and second call locates

Perform pre & post-trip equipment inspection following standardized checklist as well as performing basic machine maintenance

Perform work in a safe manner in accordance with Kichton Contracting Ltd.'s safe work practices, policies, procedures and local legislative requirements

Identify all hazards and potential hazards to site supervision

Report all incidents, near misses and equipment damage to site supervision

Out-of-town work may be available

Qualifications and Competencies

Must be 18 years of age

Minimum 2 years' previous experience working in water and sewer as an excavator operator

Strong teamwork skills and positive attitude

Excellent communication skills

Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation

Valid CSTS2020 certification (free online course through ACSA)

Valid First Aid and Ground Disturbance II certification would be an asset

Work Schedule:

Monday to Saturday

10-12 hour shifts per day

Overtime if required
