Job Summary:
The Procurement and Logistics Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all procurement and warehouse operations for Active Mechanical. This role will establish and enforce procurement processes, manage supplier relationships, optimize inventory levels, and improve logistics efficiency. The ideal candidate is process-driven, analytical, and experienced in procurement, warehouse management, and logistics within the construction and building services industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Management:
Design and implement a company-wide procurement process, ensuring buy-in from all stakeholders.
Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers to diversify the vendor base and drive cost savings.
Negotiate pricing, supplier agreements, and annual spend rebates to achieve better cost control and service levels.
Ensure all procurement transactions run through SimPRO, improving visibility and accountability.
Implement and enforce a structured purchase order (PO) approval workflow, requiring project manager authorization before issuing POs.
Provide training and support to ensure project teams follow the established procurement workflow.
Warehouse & Inventory Management:
Directly manage warehouse team, defining clear roles and responsibilities.
Develop structured weekly plans and ensure the successful completion of warehouse projects.
Lead the re-organization of the warehouse, including optimizing space utilization, re-labeling shelves, and standardizing inventory management procedures.
Establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for utilizing SimPRO as the inventory management system.
Reduce overall inventory levels and ensure inventoried materials are accurately costed to jobs.
Implement a quality assurance (QA/QC) process to eliminate inaccurate warehouse deliveries.
Develop business cases for warehouse improvement initiatives and demonstrate ROI for proposed changes.
Manage the maintenance and repair of company owned assets including tools, vehicles, equipment and facilities.
Logistics & Delivery Optimization:
Develop and implement a structured delivery schedule based on geographic regions to optimize efficiency and reduce overhead costs (fuel, vehicle maintenance, etc.).
Ensure predictable and reliable deliveries to job sites while maintaining flexibility for urgent requests.
Qualifications & Skills:
Plumbing and Heating industry experience is a must.
5+ years of experience in procurement or inventory management
Warehouse management experience is considered an asset.
Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing cost savings and supplier agreements.
Experience with procurement process design, implementation, and compliance.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience developing and managing a small team.
Proficiency in SimPRO or similar inventory management and procurement software.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to drive internal process adoption.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to track and report on key performance metrics.
