Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing 3D parametric solid models using SolidWorks. The Mechanical Designer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure all aspects, tolerances and dimensions are accurate to the specifications.

Duties

Create and modify 3D parametric solid models using SolidWorks (>95% of the time) and Autodesk Inventor ( Individual parts and assemblies up to 300 parts.
Complex geometry with associative patterns / dimensions
Formula and parametric driven features
Validate fits and interferences
Creation of models from vendor samples

Prepare and update 2D detail drawings:
Ensure compliance with ASME Y14.5-2018 drawing standards
Application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Apply material, coating, heat-treat and process notes as applicable
Verify Bill of Materials for accuracy and availability

Process redline updates to drawings with changes in revisions

Prepare and update Engineering Change (EC) documentation based on input from engineers

Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management and revision control software

Technical support of PSE sub-departments including Program Management, Technical Publications and Weapon Technology

Other duties as assigned

Skills/ Qualifications

Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent

1-2 years of CAD experience - applicable co-op experience will be considered

SolidWorks experience (including PDM) is an asset

Experience with GD&T is an asset

Experience with mechanical design and assemblies is preferred

Word Processing and Spreadsheet experience (MS Office) required

All employees at Colt Canada need to be successfully screened in the Controlled Goods Program and be eligible for obtaining a Restricted Possession and Acquisition Licence.
