We are seeking permanent, full-time (Monday - Friday) Lead Hand to join our team in the manufacturing industry in our Edmonton facility. We are looking to fill this position for the night shift (11 PM - 7:30 AM). As a Lead Hand, you will support production activities and employees on shift by acting as an intermediate role between Operators and Supervisors.
Responsibilities:
Operate the forklift to move raw materials and finished goods as needed.
Ensure jobs are completed within the allocated timeframe and with good quality.
Assist in providing training, coaching, guidance and troubleshooting expertise to the team.
Assists Supervisor in managing time parameters for crew activities such as breaks and assist in resolving any scheduling conflicts.
Follow production schedule and ensure that correct work order quantities are achieved.
Ensure proper functioning of machines and restart them when needed.
Ensure quality standards are respected and complete quality records.
Perform all tasks related to production (locate color, color changes, material changes and drying).
Responsible of the packaging and removal of final product.
Support the employees on shift and relieve operators as needed.
Perform proper material handling, labelling and identifying all materials.
Read the specification documents and record process changes.
Assist in mold set-ups under supervision.
Follow existing processes and suggest new and improved solutions.
Ensure smooth and safe operation of team, helping the workers to meet goals, and mediating concerns with upper management.
Coordinate the team and responsible for applying policies and procedures.
Promotes a safe work environment.
Keep a clean and organized workstation and ensure all equipment and material are in order when job ends.
Operates various lift equipment and other equipment in accordance with safety protocols and equipment operating procedures.
Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines
May act as a stand in for Supervisor when he or she is absent.
QUALIFICATIONS
Forklift experience and up-to-date forklift certification is required.
Good organizational, communication, multitasking and leadership skills.
Must be comfortable with the following PPE: Eye Protection, Ear Plug and Safety Shoes.
The ability to motivate and monitor crew members while working alongside them.
Numerical skills in order to check loads, calculate trucking needs, check inventories, etc.
Ability to accurately and legibly document receipts / shipments, picked orders, etc.
Reliable, accountable and trust-worthy.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 1 year logistics and/or warehousing experience
Experience working with inventory management systems
Plastics handling experience an asset
WORK CONDITIONS
Physically fit, with ability to move/lift heavy loads
Ability to work well under pressure
