The Family Wellness Advocate/Support Worker plays a crucial role in providing support to
Indigenous mothers residing at Tupa's Lodge, a residential transitional housing program for new/expecting mothers and their babies. This position involves advocating and assisting mothers in the development and implementation of their family wellness plans

Key Responsibilities:
Heart-Centered Advocacy: Support residents in co-creating and implementing personalized family wellness plans, embracing the uniqueness of each family.
Empowerment in Action: Be a guiding light, empowering Indigenous mothers to navigate life's challenges with strength and resilience.
Evening Wellness Checks: Conduct evening checks at 10:00 PM, ensuring a safe and comforting environment for all families.
Logbook Narratives: Keep detailed log entries, fostering open communication and understanding between colleagues.
Dawn of Hope: Disarm the alarm and open the Lodge at 6:00 AM, ushering in a new day of possibilities.
Crisis Compassion: Be a pillar of support during emergencies, offering compassionate crisis intervention rooted in cultural sensitivity.
Disciplinary Harmony: Implement disciplinary actions with empathy, promoting growth and accountability while maintaining a nurturing atmosphere.
Cultural Connection: Familiarize yourself with the Tupas Lodge Handbook, a guide to cultural understanding and community harmony.
Data of Compassion: Maintain timely and accurate data, ensuring a holistic approach to family support.
Grocery Gathering: Share the responsibility of grocery shopping, embracing diverse cultural tastes and preferences.
Guardian of Safety: Monitor alarms for fire and emergency exits, ensuring the safety of our sacred space.
Welcoming Spirit: Sign out residents, staff, and visitors with warmth and inclusivity.
Cultural Engagement: Encourage and ensure residents' participation in Tupa's Lodge programming, celebrating the richness of Indigenous traditions.
Harmony in Cleanliness: Contribute to the cleanliness and positive energy of the Lodge, embodying the spirit of care.
Team Unity: Attend staff wrap-around meetings, fostering unity and collaboration.
Coordinator's Partner: Perform duties assigned by the Tupa's Lodge Coordinator, co- creating a vision of harmonious community support.
Qualifications:
Minimum Grade 12 education.
Experience working with high-risk youth and families.
Sound knowledge of addiction and mental health issues.
Experience working with Indigenous families and have some knowledge of Indigenous cultures, and a commitment to cultural humility.
Bonus: Non-violent Crisis Intervention, First-Aid, and Mental Health First Aid training.
Requirements:
Criminal record check.
Minimum Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and on-call.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 18 kg (40 lbs.)
Reporting Relationships: This position reports to the Tupa's Lodge Manager and collaborates with other Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society staff, community service providers, and government agencies.
