Key Responsibilities:
Schedule and dispatch drivers to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, and needs.
Track and monitor driver locations and shipment progress using GPS and dispatch software.
Communicate with drivers, customers, and vendors regarding delivery schedules, delays, or changes.
Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel use, repairs, and other logistics data.
Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, including DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
Handle emergency calls, breakdowns, or delivery issues efficiently.
Provide drivers with route, schedule, and load instructions.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of road conditions, traffic patterns, and weather impacts.
Collaborate with warehouse staff, customer service representatives, and other departments to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in logistics or transportation is a plus.
Proven experience as a dispatcher or in a similar logistics role.
Knowledge of DOT regulations and freight logistics.
Proficiency in dispatching software and GPS tracking systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions.
Flexibility to work shifts, including nights and weekends, if require
Experience with transportation management systems ( Fleet Manager )
Bilingual communication skills are an asset.
CDL (Commercial Driver's License) knowledge or background is a plus.
