We are looking for hydrogeological field technicians to support senior hydrogeologists/ project managers in conducting fieldwork and assist in the preparation of hydrogeological assessment reports for a wide range of hydrogeological assessment projects. Soil Engineers Ltd. will provide required technical and health and safety trainings for the selected candidates.

JOB DUTIES:

The responsibilities of this position include:

Supervising borehole drilling, soil sampling, and monitoring well installation.

Conducting fieldwork, including monitoring well development, groundwater level measurement and surface water flow measurement, groundwater and surface water sampling, hydraulic conductivity testing, in-situ percolation testing, monitoring well decommissioning, and baseline hydrogeological assessments for private wells.

Assisting the project managers in preparing reports by completing the required searches and fieldwork, preparing log sheets for installed boreholes, and interpreting the slug tests.

Communicating with clients and their consultants to coordinate fieldwork.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge in hydrogeology, geology; training in geology/earth sciences/environmental/ water resources technologist or technician program; background in general construction practices would be an advantage.

Excellent organization and written and oral communication skills; the selected candidate will be dealing with inter-office personnel, clients, contractors, and other institutions.

Proficiency in dealing with people; this position requires working with private well owners to participate in long-term monitoring and in coordinating work with subcontractors.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Valid driver's license.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Fieldwork is an integral component of this position; the candidate must have access to a reliable vehicle for work and is willing to travel to various job sites throughout Ontario. Mileage will be reimbursed
