Level Ground is a coffee roaster and importer established in 1997 with a focus of ethically sourced coffee. We work with coffee producers to bring our customers the absolute best coffee within reach. We meet coffee producers and coffee drinkers where they are and connect them through the science and art of roasting.

As Manager, you are responsible for ensuring the smooth daily operations of our roastery café. In addition to serving customers and preparing beverages, you will lead, support and guide team members and help maintain a positive and efficient work environment.

The Café Manager is responsible for the overall financial and operational success of the café and will have bi-weekly check-ins with the director of business development to support this, along with support from the Marketing Manager.

Position Deliverables

_ Café Operations _

Lead ideation and implementation of Café offerings

Ensure the café operates as a profitable business unit within level ground. Adjusting staffing, hours and products as needed

Manage Point of Sale (POS) system, handle transactions, and ensure cash handling procedures are followed.

Maintain stock levels and ordering to meet inventory needs.

Monitor and manage customer flow, ensuring efficiency during busy periods.

Prepare delicious espresso-based beverages, brewed coffee, and other menu items to café standards.

_ Team Leadership & Supervision _

Support, mentor, and train baristas, ensuring they meet café standards and procedures.

Oversee daily operations, assign tasks and ensure smooth workflow.

Set staff schedules - including time-off and sick coverage

Act as the first point of contact for team concerns, addressing issues and escalating when necessary.

Recruit and onboarding new team members, helping them integrate into the café.

Quality Control & Café Maintenance

Enforce health and safety guidelines, ensuring a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.

Assist with opening and closing duties, ensuring all procedures are followed.

Handle customer concerns or complaints professionally and efficiently.

Collaborate with management on improvements to service, workflow, or customer experience.

Other duties as required to maintain a high-functioning and welcoming café environment.
