We are seeking an experienced Chief Pilot to lead medium-class RPAS operations, with a focus on long-line external loads and low-risk BVLOS missions. This leadership role is key to managing pilot development, ensuring compliance, and supporting mission success across Canada and abroad. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in SFOC applications, CARs Part IX, and AC 903-001, along with practical knowledge of SAIL level assessments, volume calculations, and long-line operations. Experience as a flight reviewer and RPAS trainer is highly valued.

Job Duties:

Lead and oversee all RPAS flight operations, including on-site surveys, pre-flight assessments, and mission execution, ensuring compliance with Transport Canada regulations and internal protocols.
Actively participate in field operations as needed, including serving as an airborne operator during missions involving external loads and low-risk BVLOS.
Support the preparation and maintenance of SAD, SFOCs, perform risk assessments, and ensure alignment with relevant Advisory Circulars (e.g., AC 903-001), CARs Part IX, and operational approvals.
Maintain and contribute to the development of the Operations Manual, SOPs, and mission planning procedures, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational safety.
Perform and validate SAIL level determinations, volume calculations, and risk documentation for mission planning.
Manage and maintain accurate flight logs, training records, and maintenance documentation in accordance with regulatory and audit standards.
Guide and support the professional development of RPAS pilots, ensuring their training, certifications, and competencies remain current.
Serve as a Flight Reviewer and contribute to internal training initiatives, while promoting knowledge sharing and team growth.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and safety, to optimize workflows and field performance.
Bring a willingness to learn, adapt, and incorporate your expertise into the existing operational framework.

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years of RPAS experience specific to medium platforms, including BVLOS and SFOC operations.
Advance RPAS Certificate from Transport Canada , with Level 1 Complex (obtained or in progress).
Applied knowledge of SAIL assessments, risk-based mission planning, and regulatory documentation.
Strong organizational and communication skills, with an emphasis on training oversight and procedural consistency.
Willingness to travel and adapt to changing fields and regulatory environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification as a Licensed Flight Reviewer: Ability to train and certify other pilots in line with regulatory standards.
Possession of a valid ROC-A (Radio Operator Certificate) and a current First Aid certification is required.
Part 107 Certification (USA): Registration or willingness to obtain Part 107 for U.S. operations are a bonus.
Additional Languages: Proficiency in additional languages is a plus to support international operations.
