The Company

Cox Farms (Division of Ontario Inc.) is a family-run company that plants and harvests cash crops (corn, soybeans, wheat). In addition to crop production, the business operates a grain elevator that receives grain from farms in the Hamilton/Brantford region. This is a multi-generational growing business. Employees are positioned for gradual increased responsibility.

The Job

Normal hours/off-season (Dec-Mar) - 40 hrs per week - Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Flexible hours are a possibility
Spring planting and harvesting/in season (April-Dec) - 40-60+ hrs per week some weekends
Full-time permanent position or seasonal harvest and planting help
Salary:
Competitive wage based on experience
Paid bi-weekly
Two Weeks (4%) vacation

Variety of work operating farm machinery and assisting at grain elevator
Additional Off season work includes anything related to equipment maintenance, cleaning, field cleanup, as well as grain elevator related activities(loading and unloading of trucks, sweep augering bins).
Additional In season work is anything related to fieldwork (tillage, planting, harvesting) as well as grain elevator-related activities

The Skills Required

Class AZ licence or DZ licence
Beneficial but willing to train suitable candidate
Operation of heavy equipment (tractor, backhoe, etc )
Mechanically inclined
Attention to detail
Operating and maintaining all machines
Problem solving
A general level of fitness is required.
Able to perform moderate physical activity requiring handling of average-weight objects up to 30kg or standing and/or walking for up to 8 hours per day
Ability to climb to moderate height
