Gilt Catering is seeking "Evening Catering Cooks" to join our growing team! We are a catering company located in St Jacobs ON, that caters to our locally owned weddings venues, in house parties, corporate and local businesses. Our main focus is providing large scale gourmet events catering for our sister brands with The Stella Collective. Gilt Catering's kitchen is located in one of The Stella Collective's own Cellar52! Gilt Catering provides high standard catering from an extensive menu for various event personalities. One of our biggest events of the year is with Angel Stone! If you are someone who loves the planning, and consistency of catering but also love change of scenery week to week this role is for you! The perfect candidates have enthusiasm to work within an organized event timeline. You are responsible for some event prep work that requires proficient knife skills as well as being able to heat for large scaled events. Organizational skills are a must. Consistency of portioning is very important in this position and you are required to follow our portion standardization event to event. Having finesse and an eye for fine details is an asset for plating. You will be delegated a role for event days by the Kitchen event lead and are expected to know certain details of the event such as menu, dietaries and timing. You will be required to replicate late night station set-up from our provided spec sheets to keep the stations consistent from venue to venue.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Efficiently complete tasks delegated to you by lead
Communicate with co-workers using professional language during event
Uphold Gilt Catering standards through use of our processes and standardization practices
Make sure you are ready and set for service and know the menu
Execute dinner service with other cooks and lead, efficiently
Keep kitchen clean and your station organized
Organize the heat for late night and display
Individually put out late night service
Close the kitchen properly using the closing list provided
Requirements:
2 yrs working experience or culinary school experience
Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
A team player with good communication skills
Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
Very good endurance
High school diploma or equivalent is desirable; Training from a culinary school will be an asset
Must be able to get to and from working in St Jacobs in a reliable manner
Drivers license required
