Overview:
We are looking for a talented Sous Chef to manage kitchen operations at Canad Inns Destination Centre Transcona . In this role, you will manage kitchen operations for daily preparation, buffets, and banquets. You will assist the Executive Chef and occasionally fill in as needed. Responsibilities include supervising culinary staff, ensuring all employees meet standards, managing food and labor costs, and creating appealing and delicious dishes with imagination. Flexible scheduling is required. This is an opportunity to lead within a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Update the communications binder or board with announcements and memos.
Review the Banquet Event Orders and all upcoming functions, and communicate with other hotel departments to ensure the BEOs are updated.
Update all menus, and inform the staff of any changes.
Ensure all tools and equipment are properly sanitized and in good working order.
Follow the FIFO principles to ensure the proper inventory will be utilized.
Assist the staff with their duties as necessary.
Prioritize and distribute duties accordingly
Record supplies and inventory
Refer to the menu planner
Wrap, label and date all food
Qualifications:
Experience in a similar work environment, of at least two years
Able to work days, evenings and/or weekends
Articulately communicates both verbally and in writing
Budgeting experience
Formal or informal training and/or education
Leadership skills
Organized, accurate and reliable
Recognizes and resolves problems quickly and efficiently
