The Role

Leads the daily operations of the Finance department, managing payables, receivables, payroll, and internal financial systems. Ensures timely, accurate documentation and supports seamless financial workflows across the organization. Maintains a well-organized, welcoming office environment and contributes proactively to team needs. Exercises strong communication and customer service skills, with an ability to navigate financial conversations with clarity and care. Demonstrates professionalism and sound judgment in all interactions with clients, trades, and co-workers, while consistently reflecting LD&A's core values.

Responsibilities

Managing bookkeeping tasks such as processing invoices, tracking payments, and maintaining financial records
Preparing internal financial summaries and ensuring accurate, timely documentation to support planning and decision-making
Administering payroll, benefits, and employee records, and providing occasional support with onboarding and HR coordination
Overseeing general administrative operations, including scheduling, reporting tools, records management, and recurring company routines
Supporting company-wide logistics, events, communications, and ongoing coordination needs
Delivering clear, service-minded communication across a range of professional relationships
Collaborating across departments to ensure smooth workflows, timely responses, and consistent internal support

Skills and Experience

Strong bookkeeping and accounting skills, with confidence managing numbers and spotting errors
Solid understanding of financial workflows, documentation, and general compliance
Familiarity with payroll processes and maintaining employee records
Excellent computer skills, including QuickBooks, Excel, Google Sheets, and cloud-based platforms
Highly organized, with strong problem-solving abilities
Effective time management with the ability to juggle multiple moving parts
Clear and professional communication across written, verbal, and digital channels
Maintains discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive or confidential information
Comfortable interacting with a wide range of people, from trades to clients to designers
Adaptable in a role that spans finance, admin, and company-wide support

Preferred Qualifications

Buildertrend or similar project management tools
Ceridian or other payroll platforms
Payroll training or certification (such as from the National Payroll Institute)
Formal education in accounting or bookkeeping
Previous work in Canadian financial settings, especially within construction, trades, or small business operations

Required Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience
Legally eligible to work in Canada and available for in-office work in Calgary
Reliable transportation; driver's license and vehicle strongly preferred
