The Hourly Shift Manager is focused on delivering sales and profit results through profitability, guests, people & operations. This role supports the Restaurant General Manager and Assistant Manager (Manager-in-Training) in managing the operations during assigned shifts, driving key performance outcomes related to sales, profitability, guest service and people. The Shift Manager operates under the direction of the Restaurant Manager and directly manages a shift of Team Members.

Position Description:

Essential Functions:

Ensure that food charts, recipes and other preparation procedures are respected by teammates

Ensure that procedures relating to storage and rotation of supplies and food are observed,

Ensure that procedures for maintaining the freshness and food quality are observed and that employees of the restaurant provide the best customers service possible

Resolve all guest complaints with politeness, courtesy, and efficiency.

Ensure that sanitary procedures are respected, ensure that the interior and exterior of the restaurant is clean, cleaned and maintained in accordance with company standards & procedures.

Ensure that the inventory is carried out and stocks maintained at an appropriate level in accordance with company policy

Ensure that all directives on health and safety at work are known and respected

Ensure that all accidents and reported crimes are recorded in an appropriate manner.

Assist the manager to achieve productivity goals (labour cost and food costs) and take over during employees breaks,

Ensure that staff follow the rules and policies of the restaurant, maintain, and promote a good work environment by motivating employees.

When required, assist the manager in recruitment and staff training, performance evaluation and supervision of work teams

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, & Skills:

Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience

Previous experience in Quick Service Restaurants (QSR) is preferred

Must meet the minimum provincial legal employment age (proof of age or work permit may be required if hired)

Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers

Demonstrates the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner

Demonstrates the ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions

Customer service and cash handling experience preferred

Work Environment:

Primarily indoor environment with occasional tasks outdoors

Involves standing and walking for long periods of time without frequent rest periods (duration of shift)

Requires frequent motions of bending, wiping, sweeping, mopping, wrapping, and squeezing

Routinely reach overhead, forward and underneath shelves, counters, tables, and kitchen equipment

Frequently squat or stoop to reach items on low shelves or off the floor

Frequent exposure to fluctuating temperatures in areas such as cooler, freezer and cooking sections of restaurant

Occasionally lift, move, carry, and stack cartons up to 30 pounds from various heights to/from shelves

Occasionally climb on stools or ladders and reach for items located on shelves About Redberry:
