We are seeking a Lead Project Cost Control Specialist on a contract basis to support the planning, tracking, and management of costs on a significant infrastructure project in British Columbia. This is an opportunity to play a key role in a major capital project from design through construction.

Further Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and implement project-specific cost control procedures aligned with company and project standards.
  • Maintain project budgets, forecasts, accruals, and financial reporting using systems such as Unifier, PRISM, or similar.
  • Monitor project commitments, expenditures, and cash flow performance.
  • Align the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) with project accounting frameworks.
  • Review and process invoices, funding requests, and change orders.
  • Manage change tracking and trend analysis against the project baseline.
  • Apply earned value management techniques and productivity analysis to track project performance.
  • Produce monthly cost reports and presentations for project leadership and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project accounting and finance teams to support integration and audits.
  • Support risk management, governance processes, and contingency tracking.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in project cost control, preferably within infrastructure, mining, or large industrial projects.
  • At least 3 years supporting Owner organizations, including 1+ year of site-based project work.
  • Strong proficiency with cost control systems such as Unifier, PRISM, or Cleopatra.
  • Familiarity with scheduling tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project is considered an asset.
  • Solid understanding of cost management, project controls, and construction industry practices.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Degree or diploma in engineering, accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications (CPA, P.Eng, AScT, CCP, CEP, PMP) considered strong assets.
