Position Overview:
Are you a detail-oriented estimator with a background in Plumbing or HVAC-R? This is an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise in a dynamic role that directly contributes to project success and operational excellence. This position involves analyzing project specifications, estimating costs, and collaborating across teams to ensure accurate and competitive proposals.
Please Note: A Journeyman Certificate in Plumbing or HVAC-R is required for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret construction plans and project documentation to determine scope and requirements.
- Analyze labor, materials, and equipment needs to prepare precise estimates.
- Utilize industry-standard software such as AutoBid and Bluebeam for cost estimation.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering strategies.
- Develop and present comprehensive proposals to internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain and update a detailed material and cost database to support accurate estimating.
- Actively participate in daily sales and professional development training.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and/or refrigeration systems and relevant building codes.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
- Advanced analytical, mathematical, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Experience with estimating tools, including AutoBid, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Certification in Plumbing or HVAC-R (required).
- Minimum 3 years of commercial estimating experience.
- Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) is an asset.
Working Environment:
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as necessary.
- Role includes both office-based and on-site work, subject to various environmental conditions.
