Position Summary
Assists Supervisor in the daily activities of the operation. Involves collaborating with other departments, such as customer service and maintenance, to achieve operational excellence and meet customer expectations. Work closely with leaders, dispatchers, operational staff and drivers to ensure efficiencies are maintained while adhering to customer needs.
Location: 6767 Davand Dr. Mississauga, Ont.
Schedule: 40 Hours Monday to Friday
What you will do
- Maintains workflow, staffing and scheduling to achieve targeted operational and financial results.
- Ensures compliance with operational policies and procedures.
- Resolves routine operational issues.
- Provide guidance and training to operational team to enhance their skills and knowledge in logistics and transportation.
- Foster a safe work environment of empowerment, accountability, respect, consideration, open honest interaction, full participation in team meetings and activities with a winning attitude
- Maintain knowledge of WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, WSIB, and all related governing legislation
- Operating Forklift and dock work as assigned
- Accurately ship and receive product
- Accurately complete documents as required
What You'll Bring
- 3-5 years previous entry level management experience, preferably within a LTL/cross dock environment, with a focus on servicing internal and external customers
- Proven track record of positive coaching, team building, training, and development of direct reports, coupled with a 'hands-on" leadership style
- Demonstrated excellence in customer service and relationship building, while having a sense of urgency, and being enthusiastic, assertive, and highly organized
- Proven ability to influence, motivate, and communicate effectively with team members
- Capable of recognizing opportunities for change, development of process and implementation
- Strong personal attributes such as self-motivation, analytical, capable of working independently
- Experience in a high volume, fast paced LTL/crossdock operations
- Completion of a post secondary diploma, preferably in Supply Chain Management, LTL/crossdock or equivalent work experience
- Must have a valid Counterbalance Forklift Certificate
