POSITION SUMMARY:The Set-Up technician is responsible for troubleshooting molding processes, supporting production efficiency, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality. The ideal candidate possesses strong problem-solving, communication, and technical skills.

Responsible for:

  • Managing and directing resources to tackle technical issues that arise during the shift that results in meeting safety, quality and delivery targets
  • Fostering a working environment that is fair, equitable and driven to continuous improvements
  • Setting, starting up and troubleshooting moulding machines for production runs
  • Providing support to the Shift Supervisor
  • Following and complying with Cube Management System (CMS)

Duties:

  • Set up and start up injection moulding machines
  • Complete mould and insert changes
  • Follow-up, trouble-shoot and adjust processes for any quality issues, including flash, long gates, warping, blooming, witness marks, cloudiness, etc.
  • Identify and communicate mould/machine problems to Shift Supervisor and Maintenance Technicians
  • Maintenance and storage of moulds and inserts (tooling)
  • Assist Shift Supervisors as required – training of new staff, incident investigations and audits to determine root causes and corrective actions
  • Communicate with previous and next shift to understand any technical or quality issues

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge/Qualifications

  • High School Graduate
  • Vocational school an asset
  • 5 years minimum of technical experience in injection moulding
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Basic tooling background an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and produce results
  • Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Crane, and forklift certification required

  • Must have full range of motion
  • Must be able to sit, stand/walk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, twist and lift up to 30lbs
  • Able to work 12 hour rotating continental shifts
