We are seeking a motivated Mine Engineer-in-Training (Mine EIT) to support underground mine development planning and scheduling activities. Working closely with the Mine Engineering team, the successful candidate will assist with short- and medium-term planning, production scheduling, and continuous improvement initiatives to support safe and efficient mining operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career mining engineer looking to gain hands-on experience in an active underground mining environment while working alongside experienced technical professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with short- and medium-term mine planning and production scheduling.
- Support underground development planning and tracking of mining activities.
- Monitor production progress and compare actual performance against mine plans.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports and planning updates.
- Assist with ventilation, haulage, and development planning as required.
- Conduct field inspections and collect operational data to support mine planning activities.
- Collaborate with Operations, Geology, Survey, Geotechnical, and Maintenance teams to coordinate development activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve mine productivity, efficiency, and safety.
- Assist in updating mine designs, schedules, and planning documentation.
- Ensure engineering work is completed in accordance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and safe mining practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering.
- Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
- 1–3 years of mining engineering experience, preferably in an underground mining environment.
- Knowledge of mine planning and scheduling principles.
- Experience with mine planning software such as Deswik, MineSched, Vulcan, Datamine, or similar is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently while supporting multidisciplinary teams.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
